Elders and Deacons

In the PCUSA Elders (from the Greek presbuteros, or ‘elder’) are the Ruling leaders of the church. They are elected annually and serve terms of three years. Elders are not necessarily ‘elder’! They are elected by the congregation because they have particular gifts and are willing to serve God by leading in a particular congregation. Elders and Deacons are ordained in a special worship service every year, and they retain their ordained status beyond their three-year term. We are incredibly grateful for the energies and gifts of these lay people who keep the church running and ministries active.
